Yanaka is one of the few districts in Tokyo where the shitamachi atmosphere, an old town ambiance reminiscent of Tokyo from past decades, still survives.

During the 3-hour Yanaka tour, you will experience the good old days of Tokyo. Yanaka has many interesting sights to see, including the Yanaka Reien (cemetery), which is famous as a site for viewing cherry blossoms in the spring. Here are some traditional wooden temples and houses which survived WW2 as well as some unique temples.  Also you will walk on backstreets in the residential area and a shopping street for locals so you will glance at Japanese everyday lives.

The private experience is for your group only (others cannot join this experience).

The 3-Hour Shinto Shrine Tour will include an English-speaking guide. This tour can be conducted before or after the Yanaka Tour. Public transportation costs are included. Admission fee or other optional activity fees for guests and tour guides are not included. Please see price at the check out.

The booking time

Please only make bookings 6 months in advance of tour date. The schedule for events may not be set before 6 months of tour date, and your tour may be rejected or canceled if a booking is made too early in advance.

Age Requirement

There is no age requirement, but a reservation must be made for all guests, and the cost is the same, except for infant (0-1 years old).

Payment

All reservations are subject to Standard, Moderate or Firm Cancellation Policy. The Cancellation Policy will appear at checkout.

All bookings are payable via Stripe (Booking Checkout) or PayPal. Confirmations regarding your booking will be sent at least 10 days before your activity date.

Cancellation Policy

Standard Cancellation Policy:

• We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 5 days or less before event
• We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before event
• We will charge a cancellation fee of 25% if booking is cancelled 10 days or less before event

There is a non-refundable 3% service fee for all bookings. Refunds (that are not subject to a cancellation fee) will include the ticket price less the 3% service fees. If an event is cancelled or postponed by Japan Awaits, refunds will be for the entire purchase—that includes the ticket price and the service fees.
