For Private Tours, the guide will wait up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. If guests do not arrive within this time, the tour will be considered canceled.
What makes this sumo stable different from others?
Japan Awaits has an exclusive partnership with the sumo stable, allowing this experience to combine morning training with guided commentary and opportunities to interact with the wrestlers.
A sumo expert guide provides commentary throughout the training session via audio headsets.
Join-in group size is limited to create a more personal and up-close experience.
The experience begins in the morning at a more comfortable time than many traditional stable visits that begin very early.
Guests have opportunities to speak with the wrestlers and take photos with them after practice.
How often are sumo wrestlers practicing at the sumo stable?
Sumo wrestlers travel to multiple locations throughout the year for tournaments and events and may spend only a few weeks to a month at their home base at a time.
Availability between tournaments can therefore be limited. When the wrestlers are at their home stable, guests have the opportunity to observe their daily training and disciplined routines.
When do the Sumo Tournaments take place in Japan?
